The Milk Seller’s Daughter

One night, Caliph Umar ibn Al-Khattab (RA) was walking through the streets of Madinah when he overheard a mother saying to her daughter:

“Add some water to the milk. No one will know.”

But the daughter replied:

“Mother, the Caliph may not see us, but Allah is watching.”

Umar (RA) was so impressed by the girl’s honesty that he later arranged her marriage to his son. From that marriage came a great lineage — including Caliph Umar bin Abdul Aziz, one of the most righteous leaders in Islamic history.

Moral: True character is shown when no one is watching — but Allah always is
